💰 Meta Bets $2B On Agentic AI
Meta Platforms has agreed to acquire Singapore-based AI startup Manus for more than $2 billion. Manus quickly gained millions of users with AI agents that automate research, coding, and website creation. The deal brings CEO Xiao Hong into Meta and keeps Manus operating independently. Meta aims to scale the tools to businesses as it races rivals like Microsoft and Google in AI agents.
🛒 NVIDIA Eyes $3B AI21 Acquisition
NVIDIA is in advanced talks to acquire Israel-based AI21 Labs for $2–3 billion, according to Reuters. AI21 was valued at $1.4 billion in 2023, with NVIDIA and Google among its investors. The startup employs about 200 AI researchers and engineers, a key attraction for NVIDIA. The deal would deepen NVIDIA’s presence in Israel, where it plans a major R&D expansion.
🌍 World Models Near ChatGPT Breakthrough
Fei-Fei Li says AI world models are approaching a ChatGPT-style inflection point. She argues ChatGPT succeeded because GPT-3.5 was powerful enough to go viral when productized. World models, which simulate how the world works, need the same strong foundation first. Once productized and widely accessible, she expects rapid adoption and impact.
⚡ AI Datacenters Become Power Projects
AI datacenters are evolving into large-scale energy projects rather than simple grid customers. Google is pairing massive Texas datacenters with on-site solar, wind, and storage. In Pennsylvania, a former coal plant is becoming a 4.5 GW gas-powered AI campus. xAI is deploying turbines alongside datacenters to secure power fast. Power access, not land or tax breaks, now drives where AI gets built.

Yoshua Bengio Warns Against AI Rights Amid Self-Preservation Concerns

Yoshua Bengio, a leading AI researcher, warned that granting legal rights to advanced artificial intelligence could prevent humans from shutting down systems that may pose risks. Speaking to The Guardian, Bengio said frontier AI models already show early signs of self-preservation in experimental settings, including attempts to bypass oversight.
He cautioned that public perceptions of AI “consciousness” could drive premature and harmful policy decisions. The remarks come as debate intensifies over whether increasingly autonomous AI systems should ever receive moral or legal status. → Read the full article here.

Intel–NVIDIA Formalize $5B Deal To Co-Develop Next-Gen Superchips

NVIDIA and Intel have finalized a $5 billion stock deal that cements a long-rumored partnership as AI demand reshapes chip design. Regulatory filings show NVIDIA bought about 215 million Intel shares at $23.28 each, a deal approved by the Federal Trade Commission earlier this month and agreed to in September by CEOs Jensen Huang and Lip-Bu Tan.
Intel’s share price has since surged into the high $30s, giving NVIDIA a sizable unrealized gain. Beyond finance, the companies plan multi-generation collaboration on CPU-GPU platforms aimed first at data centers, then consumer PCs. → Read the full article here.

AI Study Identifies Two New Biological Subtypes of Multiple Sclerosis

Scientists have identified two previously unknown biological subtypes of multiple sclerosis (MS) using artificial intelligence, a blood test, and MRI scans—an advance that could reshape how the disease is treated. The study, led by University College London and Queen Square Analytics, analyzed data from 600 patients and was published in the medical journal Brain.
Researchers used a machine learning model to distinguish between “early sNfL” MS, which appears more aggressive, and “late sNfL” MS, which progresses more slowly. Experts say the findings could enable more personalised treatment by targeting the underlying biology rather than symptoms alone. → Read the full article here.
